Matthew 25 Challenge — August 23, 2026
Today’s challenge is simple: MAKE ROOM.
Make room for one person who might otherwise be left at the edge. Invite someone to sit with you. Pull another chair into the circle. Welcome the new person into the conversation. Make space in your plans, your attention, or your table for someone who may feel unseen or outside.
Jesus says in Matthew 25:35, “I was a stranger and you invited me in.” Hospitality is more than opening a door. It is the decision to communicate, with our actions, You belong here.
This challenge does not ask us to rescue anyone or make their story public. It asks us to notice the quiet boundaries that form around our tables, conversations, churches, workplaces, neighborhoods, and everyday routines—and gently widen the circle.
Maybe you invite a coworker to lunch. Maybe you sit beside the person who is alone. Maybe you include someone in a conversation instead of talking around them. Maybe you make room for a neighbor, a newcomer, or someone whose life looks different from yours.
Keep dignity at the center. Do not photograph or identify someone as the “person you helped” without their freely given permission. The point is not to document kindness. The point is to practice welcome.
Today’s Challenge
MAKE ROOM. Notice one person at the edge and create genuine space for them to belong.
A Simple Prayer
Father, open my eyes to the person standing at the edge. Give me a welcoming heart, an open chair, and the courage to widen the circle. Teach me to receive others with the same love You have shown me. Amen.
Love sees. Love serves. Love stays. Love makes room. Love looks like this.
