Today's challenge: GIVE ONE USEFUL THING.

Matthew 25 Challenge August 20, 2026 — Give One Useful Thing

One Small Thing Can Carry a Lot of Love

We sometimes postpone generosity because we think helping someone requires doing something enormous.

We imagine changing someone's entire situation, paying a huge bill, solving homelessness, filling a pantry or somehow having enough resources to meet every need we see.

But love doesn't always arrive in enormous packages.

Sometimes love is a bottle of cold water on a hot afternoon.

Sometimes it is clean socks.

A toothbrush.

A snack.

A blanket.

A notebook for a child beginning school.

Something ordinary can become extraordinary when it meets a real need at the right moment.

That is today's Matthew 25 Challenge:

Give one useful thing.

Look around at what you already have or what you can reasonably afford. Choose one practical item and put it into someone's hands—or give it to a trustworthy local outreach that can.

No fanfare is necessary.

You don't need a photograph of the person receiving it.

You don't need recognition.

You don't even need them to know your name.

Because the purpose isn't to demonstrate how generous we are.

The purpose is to remind another human being that they haven't been forgotten.

Jesus made Matthew 25 remarkably tangible: food for someone hungry, something to drink for someone thirsty, clothing for someone who needed it, presence for someone alone.

Love became something another person could actually experience.

So today, don't worry about changing the whole world.

Find one useful thing.

Find one human need.

Put the two together.

And allow love to do what love does.

One act.

One person.

One day at a time.

LOVE LOOKS LIKE THIS.

GET CAUGHT IN THE ACT.

LIGHT UP THE MAP.
